According to the Iliad, Agamemnon, king of Mycenae, led the Greeks against Troy. Of course, there is no way to verify how much of the Iliad is historically accurate, but since it has been ascertained that there was a Troy and that it did suffer some sort of destruction by fire during the Bronze Age, it is possible that there actually was a King Agamemnon, and that he was the leader.
